Liberal Democracy in the Age of ASI

One central feature of liberal democracy is its relative slowness. There is typically significant public debate and political deliberation over time prior to making a decision to change something significant. Societal change is primarily propelled by technological change and technological change has been exponentially accelerating ever since the start of the industrial revolution in the 17th century. The real question is how liberal democracy will be able to keep up the speed without making mistakes that involves fatally wounding herself?
