Transparency Society

There are currently two paradigms for public surveillance powered with AI including facial recognition; the Chinese authoritarian one and the European liberal-democratic one. In the Chinese version has the state all the data and unlimited powers of surveillance which makes crime difficult to commit. The EU-version puts limits on government usage of public surveillance and thus makes fighting crime far less effective. A third paradigm however, would be a transparency society, whereby ALL surveillance is available to the public on a free access online platform to which apps can be developed by anyone. The state would not have more access than the private citizen. This would have the advantages of the Chinese model without its totalitarian downsides.
