What is a Legitimate Compromise?

A legitimate compromise needs not necessarily involve negotiations with the opposition. An acceptable compromise is one deemed legitimate by the Supreme Court of Israel. This is also relevant for the ”Anti-Reasonableness Bill”. Therefore, the government needs to discreetly consult with the Supreme Court before presenting a compromise bill to the Knesset. The Israeli Deep State would be particularly well-advised to insist on this in its communications with PM Netanyahu and others in the government.
