European Hysteria

Josep Borrell’s recent initiative to sanction Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich is clearly in reaction to the Jewish prostrations and loud Jewish prayers on the Eastern side of the Temple Mount. What then about the status quo? The truth is that the status quo has been continually evolving, including the construction in recent years of two new mosques on the Temple Mount. There is the common idea that realizing Jewish rights on the Temple Mount will unleash global religious war. This notion is patently false. Ben-Gvir’s policy on the Mount inspires tacit respect in the Arab and Muslim worlds because it appears normal and is clearly what the Muslims would do if roles were reversed. There is no real reason why people of all religions should not pray together in peace. However, a second floor above the present Muslim first level should be built where the vegan Jewish Temple should be constructed in full compliance with Halakha. Only grain and no animals should be sacrificed.
