Borrell’s Musings

Josep Borrell has decided to once more express his personal opinions on Israel’s war against genocidal Jihadism in Gaza rather than the European Union’s official standpoint. Those prejudices of his are so outrageous that they require immediate correction.

  1. This is not a war between religions and between civilizations. There is notably no communal violence in Israel. Borrell seems to believe the canard that all Muslims oppose Israel which simply is not true. There are many millions of Muslims who support Israel, they are simply not free to publicly express such support which is not considered legitimate in their communities. The war in Gaza changes absolutely nothing in this respect.
  2. Borrell’s claim that the October 7th pogrom in southern Israel and the ensuing war in Gaza is the West’s fault in failing to broker a final status peace agreement – is over the top in bizarre Occidental fantasies. Neither Jerusalem nor Ramallah ever honestly believed in the feasibility of a final status accord. The West is not to blame.
  3. Borrell describes Israel’s indigenous re-appropriation of Judea and Samaria as ”colonization”. Borrell is probably unaware that Jews made up the majority of the population in the land of Israel prior to the Arabian conquest.
  4. Borrell claims that moderate forces have fallen prey to extremists in Palestinian society. This is nonsense. The extremists were always in charge. This is why there is a conflict.
  5. Borrell claims that the view (for decades championed in the Likud leadership) of first making peace with Arab states and only after that with the Palestinians has been discredited by the October 7th massacres. This is plainly ridiculous. An Israeli victory in Gaza will only strengthen the interest in normalization with Israel among Arab and Muslim states.
  6. Borrell claims that Israel ”overreacts” and will lose international support when in fact he knows perfectly well that this is not yet another operation of mowing the grass. This is a full-scale war to annihilate a terrorist organization and Israel has unprecedented international support in this war.
  7. Borrell claims that there is no military solution to the conflict in Gaza and that terrorism cannot be defeated. This is a peculiar thing to say since Israel has won every war and every operation it has ever waged against its enemies, including against terrorists.
