The Time War

The conventional understanding of the war in Gaza is that it takes place exclusively in a spatial place, yet its temporal dimension is yet to be investigated.

  1. Israel loses legitimacy as times passes by in the war and Hamas sees this as a very strong reason for continuing the war.
  2. Hamas wins international legitimacy by participating in indirect negotiations with Israel while perpetuating the war.
  3. Israel wins time for continuing the war by participating in indirect negotiations with Hamas, knowing full well that Hamas has no interest whatsoever in an agreement.
  4. Hamas believes that time is on its side in the belligerencies in Gaza and and that Israel ultimately will be forced to unconditional surrender in Gaza.
  5. Israel believes that time is on its side in the belligerencies in Gaza and that Israel with time will emerge victorious, time will give total victory.
  6. Everybody likes a winner; winning in Gaza will make Israel popular internationally reasons Israel.
  7. The war in Gaza is just a prelude to the Northern War in Syria and Lebanon.

A temporal analysis offer much different results than a spatial one in the Gaza theater.
