While it is true that Syria is ruled by a predominantly Alawite regime are however most Alawites just as oppressed as any other Syrian citizens under Syria’s totalitarian system. While a disproportionate number of Alawites in Syria are educated, privileged and wealthy does that not mean that Syrian Alawites (most of whom are poor) are any less oppressed than everyone else in Syria. Median Jewish (Alawite, Druze, Alevi and Yezidi) pupils are forced to participate in Muslim religious education in state schools throughout Syria. The Syrian-Iranian colonial relationship however, is apparently predicated on the false assumption that Alawites are somehow Twelver Shia Muslims.
The fact is that Syria is a totalitarian regime and it is an ethical imperative to end it. Totalitarianism is simply sheer evil and war is in comparison a lesser evil. It is furthermore an ethical imperative for the Jewish state to liberate millions of Median Jews from the clutches of totalitarianism.
In addition, does Israel really have much strategic choice considering the strategic menace of Hezbollah? What are the operational alternatives if any? Israel faces a strategic choice of strategic expansion as it did in in 1948 and 1967 and the alternative is a bleak future of increasing Iranian domination in the Levant and ever-increasing Hezbollah deterrence against metropolitan Tel Aviv to the point in the future where Israel will not dare once more strategically degrading Iran’s nuclear weapons program as the price will be too high in lost Israeli civilian lives and destroyed Israeli civilian urban structures.
When will the Israeli government tell the Israeli public about Median Judaism and Median Jewry? This will have to be done at some point and it could be argued that sooner is better than later.
