Median Judaism survives in the form of its core denominations of Alawism, Alevi-Bektashi, Alianism, Druzism, Samaritanism, Yarsanism and Yezidism but there are also denominations of Median Judaism outside of the region that largely or partially have managed to survive the historical onslaught of religious imperialism. However, we would fool ourselves if we assumed that we had identified them all. Whether or not they identify with the Israelite connection is not necessarily relevant since Alawites, Alevis, Alians, Bektashis, Druze, Yarsanis and Yezidis do not traditionally identify as Israelites yet still are so.
What is therefore needed is a comprehensive anthropological research effort by the Israeli Mossad aimed at identifying more Median Jewish peoples worldwide in Africa, Asia, Oceania and even in the Americas using available anthropological literature. The Alians (who recently came to my attention) live in Europe, specifically in Bulgaria and Median Jews may therefore be found in the most unexpected places around the world. Genetically testing hereditary priests to identify genetic kohanim is one way to do this but there is an extensive anthropological toolbox in addition to that.
The purpose of this major scientific effort will be to identify religiously secretive endogamous denominations of Median Judaism worldwide not yet converted to religious imperialism and whose adherents therefore will be eligible for Aliyah under Israel’s Law of Return.
