Is the Gaza Casualty Rate Really Too High?

The US government has recently with some persistence claimed that ”too many civilians have died in Gaza”, but is that really true? The number of Israeli air strikes is higher than the number of Palestinian casualties which means that the ratio of casualty per strike is less than 1,0. How on Earth can that be described as too many deaths? It seems that some people in influential positions in Washington are simply not aware of the extent of the conflict which is the context which casualties must be viewed within. Misunderstanding Israeli actions is never an effective way of influencing Israeli policy and the truth is that Israel has frequently been the subject of misunderstandings. It is important to emphasize that repeating falsehoods is not an effective way of influencing reality in foreign relations.
