How the US Prevents Peace in the Middle East

Israel’s peace agreements with Arab and Muslim countries were all achieved through the victory paradigm. Israel’s former foes realized that the Jewish state could not be defeated, is here to stay and they began to act accordingly. Israel however has not decisively won an armed conflict since 1967 and this non-victory state of things has perpetuated the conflicts and prevented peace. Why did Israel cease winning wars after 1967? The postmodern perspective in military science argues that the notion of winning wars is antiquated. However, in the case of Israel, the Jewish state eludes strategic victory because the US has since 1973 forced premature end to hostilities. The main reason why the conflicts continue is this counter-productive US role which forces Israel to cease hostilities well before Jerusalem has achieved an incontrovertible victory on the battlefield in strategic terms. The US thus prevents Israel from translating tactical victory into strategic victory and hence perpetuates the conflicts due to an essentially antisemitic view in the Department of State according to which the Jewish nation must be kept weak and meek. This mistaken and prejudicial American strategic view of this essential strategic ally has for half a century perpetuated conflicts in the region and has served as the main obstacle to peace.
