The Bleak Palestinian Reality

The Palestinians of Gaza and Judea/Samaria are one of those predominantly Muslim peoples where the majority supports Islamism and they can therefore – like so many other predominantly Muslim peoples – not have a liberal democracy. The majority of the Palestinians are supporters of a Jihadist terrorist organization – Hamas – which they elected in 2006. There is a consensus in Palestinian society never to cede the so-called “right” for millions of intensely hostile Anti-Zionist descendants of ex-refugees to immigrate to the Jewish nation state, thus turning any hypothetical “two-state solution” into a transitional fiction. Present-day Palestinian society is a Jihadist society where terrorists are lionized and idolized throughout society including in schools and in the media. Palestinian society is the most Anti-Semitic in the world with 93% of Palestinians in Gaza and Judea/Samaria being Anti-Semites. Palestinian society is much further removed from peace now than prior to the Oslo process.

The existence of the strategically located indigenous Jewish restorative communities of Judea and Samaria have a strategically stabilizing effect on the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians in effectively strategically pacifying the conflict albeit not entirely tactically so. We may certainly wish that the reality was different than it is but it is as it is and changing the status quo would disastrously worsen the security situation and thus also seriously aggravate the Palestinian humanitarian situation in turning Judea and Samaria into a Second Gaza. At some point when Israeli demography permits will Israel redeem and enfranchise Judea and Samaria with its 2 millions Palestinians but any other solution will only bring suffering and mayhem. In the short term is the status quo with economic growth the very best we can hope for.
