The JCPOA is expected to soon effectively expire as Iran rapidly approaches nuclear threshold status in the coming weeks. This provides an opportunity for the United States to shape a new strategy for the great power rivalry with Iran. The Bush paradigm of the “war on terror” did not provide a strategy for effectively dealing with Iran and the Khomeinist empire has thus significantly expanded during the past twenty twenty years. What is therefore needed is a multidimensional strategy for not merely containing the expanding Iranian empire but actively contracting, imploding and dissolving it. It can be useful in this respect to learn from the dissolution of other multiethnic empires throughout world history. The US government should ask the US military to devise a multispectrum strategy for the post-JCPOA era as designed to ensure comprehensive victory for the United States and its allies.
