The Communists confiscated property of everyone including from the Bektashi communities in the Balkan countries. However, the Bektashi real estate have since then not been returned to their rightful owners, this includes historical tekkes, Bektashi convents which in Balkan countries typically have been turned over by governments to the local Muslim community which turned them into mosques. This is because Bektashism is typically still denied official recognition as a distinct denomination separate from Islam. This is a sensitive matter diplomatically speaking because the Turkish government opposes such official recognition. In Albania was the large Bektashi community a large landowner prior to Communism yet the post-Communist government has declined to return the real estate of the Bektashi community.
The organized American Jewish community should be discreetly diplomatically mobilized on behalf of the Bektashi order (a denomination of Median Judaism) to fully restore Bektashi communal property rights throughout the Balkans.
