Israel has built in Judea and Samaria since the 1970s with the dual strategic goals of 1) preventing a return to what former Israeli Foreign Minister Abba Eban (1915-2002) described as “the Auschwitz lines” from which Israel would only be able to defend itself through preemptive war and 2) eventually redeeming and enfranchising the entire Judea and Samaria when Jewish demographic growth in Israel so allows. Indigenous restorative construction in Judea and Samaria crucially enhances and strengthens Israel’s indigenous claims to the region.
Israel is justified in building in the strategically located indigenous restorative communities of Judea and Samaria as means of national survival. While the international community has not been understanding of Israel’s concerns in this respect, Israel has no choice but to prioritize its own interests and it is a vital Israeli national security interest to continue to build in Judea and Samaria. While the international community has always wanted an instant resolution to the Palestinian issue, Israel has no choice but to take a strategic perspective based on Israel building throughout Judea and Samaria while waiting to redeem and enfranchise the region until when there has been sufficient Jewish demographic growth in Israel. Israel is justified in building in Judea and Samaria as this is a core national interest of Israel. The international community needs to internalize that the Israeli people recognize the danger of return to “the Auschwitz lines” and will not allow that to happen.
The concepts of a so-called “two-state solution” and Palestinian statehood are completely bankrupt and constitute a non-starter for resolving the Palestinian issue which yes certainly needs to be resolved. Palestinian statehood is just not within the realm of the possible due to the Palestinian insistence on flooding Israel with millions of Anti-Zionists and their refusal to accept territorial compromise in Judea and Samaria along the lines of the Kushner peace map that would give Israel defensible borders. Therefore this problem cannot be resolved until the time is right and demographic conditions permit its resolution.
Israel always counted on the Haredi (Ultra-Orthodox) demographic population explosion and the constantly falling Palestinian fertility rate to eventually allow for Israel to redeem and enfranchise the entire Judea and Samaria. Israel was certainly justified in making that calculation.
Then enters the rediscovery of core Median Jewry as deus ex machina in allowing a far earlier Israeli redemption of Judea and Samaria than indeed expected by Israeli strategic planners. Those in the international community who are keen on resolving the Palestinian issue should focus their attention on enabling Median Jewish mass Aliyah to Israel that will allow for the resolution of the Palestinian issue. Jordan will no doubt be very happy to annex Gaza once Israel has applied Israeli sovereignty to the entire Judea and Samaria.
