Why Insist on the Impossible?

The Biden administration is well aware that Mahmoud Abbas is no partner for the much touted two-state solution. Mahmoud Abbas is tactically pragmatic but strategically rigid and his successor will be no less strategically rigid but possibly less pragmatic. The Palestinian Authority insists on flooding Israel with millions of Anti-Zionists and the goal is to end the Jewish state and remove “the Zionist demographic presence” from “historic Palestine” from the river to the sea.

Of course, Abbas’ diplomats claim that his “negotiators” are pragmatic but all experience shows that that the Palestinian side in contrast consistently refuses to reciprocate Israeli concessions in final status negotiations. Those negotiations never had any prospects of succeeding and the Israeli side participated merely to show its desire for peace despite of course knowing that any final status negotiations with the Palestinian Authority are doomed from inception. Israel has long built in Judea and Samaria to enable eventual peace and prevent future wars and this does not sabotage anything that anyway has proven completely impossible.

Neither the State of Israel nor the Palestinian Authority sincerely believes in the much-touted “two-state solution”. From an Israeli strategic perspective would it be temporary since Israel would have to reoccupy Judea and Samaria in order to prevent the firing of rockets and missiles against Jerusalem and other Israeli cities as well as to crush gargantuan buildups of foreign military forces from major Anti-Zionist Muslim nations such as Algeria, Bangladesh, Iran, Malaysia and Pakistan. From a Palestinian strategic perspective would it be temporary since the next phase would be to flood Israel with millions of Anti-Zionists and thus end the two-state solution.

The Palestinian Authority opposes an end-of-claims final status agreement since that would require ending the Palestinian demand for killing the two-state solution by flooding Israel with millions of Anti-Zionists. Israel opposes return to the Auschwitz lines as this would be counterproductive since Israel would soon have to reoccupy the entire Judea and Samaria.

This equation is dead on arrival so why is the Biden administration insisting on the impossible?
