Does King Abdullah II Want to Annex Gaza?

Israel is ready to redeem and enfranchise the entire Judea and Samaria once a critical mass of Median Jewish immigrants have arrived in Israel and Jordan will subsequently annex Gaza. Meanwhile, the Jordanian government officially insists that “a two-state solution” in the version that would involve Israel retreating to the indefensible Auschwitz lines, is the only solution. The truth however is that Jordan would be very interested in annexing Palestinian areas in Judea/Samaria, in Israel as well as Gaza were Israel to prioritize such a solution.

Israel does not prefer that since there is no guarantee that the Hashemite monarchy will not fall from power tomorrow just as the Iranian monarchy was unseated in 1979 and Israel would thus face a resurrected eastern front with millions of troops from major Anti-Zionist countries such as Algeria, Bangladesh, Iran, Malaysia and Pakistan amassing on the outskirts of Jerusalem and only kilometers away from metropolitan Tel Aviv. Such a dystopian scenario could very quickly materialize and since demography and time is on Israel’s side is Israel not interested in the Jordanian option.

The Palestinian option of establishing a state in Palestinian areas of Judea/Samaria and Israel as well as Gaza is even less attractive since this would involve appointing a ruthless puppet regime that could easily be unseated and so millions of foreign troops would amass in Judea and Samaria and there would no doubt be constant rocket/missile attacks against Jerusalem and other Israeli cities from locations in the Palestinian state in Judea, Samaria and Palestinian areas of the Galilee and the Negev. Israel could relatively quickly be forced to reoccupy Judea and Samaria and so this is the least attractive option for Israel.

Of course Jordan would be even happier if it could also annex Palestinian areas in Judea and Samaria, but it certainly will not be unhappy with annexing only Gaza. Ultimate power in Jordan lies with King Abdullah II and the elected government serves only at the pleasure of the king. Why does Jordan want to annex Gaza? Jordan is interested in terminating the Palestinian issue which remains the most serious threat against the continued stability and reign of the Hashemite monarchy. With Gaza as part of Jordan will Jordan become a Mediterranean power and it will be able to import and export through a Jordanian seaport in Gaza. Gaza will be transformed from a social welfare case into an economically thriving coastal area of Jordan. It is of course imperative that the international community funds the construction of an underground road and railroad connection between Gaza and the East Bank under the Israeli Negev Desert so as to break the isolation of Gaza, help the economy of Gaza flourish and wean Gazans from dependence on social welfare from UNRWA.

In short, King Abdullah II will be very happy to annex Gaza simply because it is in the interest of Jordan and the Hashemite monarchy although of course Jordan will officially deny agreeing to do so up until the last very minute prior to the annexation. Israel will have to militarily liberate Gaza and Jordanian forces will have complete the job in cleaning Gaza from Jihadists. Anyone who doubts that King Abdullah II will agree to annexing Gaza subsequent to the Israeli redemption and enfranchisement of Judea and Samaria certainly does not understand the particular subculture that is the Hashemite clan in Jordan.
