Equal Partnership

Russia seeks to conquer first Europe and then thus strengthened into a Eurasian empire also North America, specifically the USA, Canada and Greenland. America needs a partner of equal footing in Europe, not a bunch of vassals that America effectively subsidizes. Yes it is true that North America also faces a military threat from Russia although not as immediate as does Europe.

Then what about Greenland? There is absolutely nothing wrong with Denmark ceding Greenland to the United States other than that Greenland is a thriving liberal democracy with simply no desire whatsoever to become part of the United States. If Greenland with its freedom and representative government wanted to become part of the United States then that would be fine by Denmark. Why does Greenland not want to become part of the USA? Greenland is a Scandinavian-style welfare state and that’s the way Greenlanders want it. Americans may not be infatuated with the notion of the welfare state but Greenlanders are. Greenlanders are not interested in a large proportion of the population living in poverty as is the case in the US. Furthermore Greenlander Inuits already experienced historical Danish colonization and for understandable reasons really, really is not interested in becoming the new Alaska in becoming subjected to White American colonization and subsequent environmental degradation and theft of indigenous national resources. They don’t want that and why on Earth would they want that?

The US needs to ask itself whether it wants a strong EU partner or an assortment of unreliable nation states in Europe? Unlike the US, Europe has no imperial ambitions and simply seeks to partner with the United States. Europe expect WWIII in awaiting a Russian invasion of the EU in the years to come and is preparing accordingly. Europe needs to become capable of defending itself by itself, for itself and of itself. However, Europe also needs a post-war strategy for dealing with Russia after its defeat in WWIII. Just as a the defeated Germany was successfully liberalized and democratized after WWII so needs the defeated post-Putin Russia be offered EU-membership provided that it successfully liberalizes and democratizes. The EU has considerable soft power in integrating former autocracies into the union through powerful economic incentives to reform. Even now should Russia ask itself whether it would be worthwhile to liberalize and democratize to become part of what would effectively become a ”Eurasian Union” rather than merely the European Union. This is effectively what Russia seeks in the first place so as to help defend the survival of Mother Russia against the almost unlimited settler colonialist ambitions of a Neo-Imperial China. Eventually would Russia become part of NATO itself which would be focused on defending Russia from Chinese conquest. While all this may seem unrealistic today it may not be after Russia is defeated in WWIII and the EU and NATO should be ready to offer the defeated Russia full membership in the EU and NATO provided that they fully liberalize and democratize. After all Russia asked for EU and NATO membership after the defeat of the Soviet Union and will do so again after once more suffering historical defeat and Brussels needs to be ready this time for this historical inflection point and say ”yes we welcome you”. This is the way the German threat was neutralized and this is the proper way to permanently and peacefully neutralize the Russian threat as well.
