Ending the Islamization of the Alawite People

While Syria’s former dictator Hafez al-Assad (1930-2000) was ethnically Alawite as is his son and successor as dictator Bashar al-Assad (b. 1965) have they both pursued Islamization policies which are basically anti-Alawite. Alawite pupils are forced to endure Islamic religious instruction in state schools and the regime built mosques in Alawite villages throughout the Alawite region of northwest Syria and outrageously encouraged Alawites to go on pilgrimage to Mecca (sic!). Bashar al-Assad himself is an assimilationist who is married to a Muslim women and his children are therefore not Alawites since being born Alawite requires having dual Alawite parentage. The enforced Islamization of the Alawites indicates that not only are the Alawites oppressed by the totalitarian Ba’athist regime like everyone else but there is a double oppression against the Alawites who are expected to essentially abandon Alawism (a denomination of core Median Judaism) and become Muslims. The leading Alawites in the regime are essentially turncoats who became agents of the forces of Islamization who historically oppressed and persecuted the Alawites in Ottoman times.

As war approaches between Israel and Hezbollah which will likely also involve Hezbollah’s patrons in the northern Levant is the question if the secularized Alawite turncoats of the regime are capable of repenting and returning to their own Alawite roots and ceasing to collaborate against their own people with the forces of Islamization? The oppressed Crypto-Jewish Alawite people suffering under the double yoke of totalitarian oppression ostensibly on their behalf and religious oppression in the name of Islam certainly require liberation. Indeed, the enforced Islamization of the Alawite community if anything needs to be reversed.
