Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman al-Saud (a.k.a. MBS) is leading what can only be described as a feminist revolution. Women are rapidly being enfranchised in the desert kingdom and can now drive, do not have to cover their hair or faces and will at this pace within years have equal rights with men. Of course there are strong forces of reaction in the form of the Wahhabi Deep State which persecutes, imprisons and tortures feminists at the same time as MBS is realizing the feminist agenda. The international Muslim Brotherhood has led a successful international campaign to malign MBS by focusing on the issue of the killing of the Islamist journalist Jamal Khashoggi, a friend of Osama bin Laden. With the covenant broken between the Saudi royal family and the Wahhabi sect, there is of course intense conflict over control of the Saudi state similar to the struggle between the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood Intelligence and the secularist Derin Devlet in Turkey. The Khashoggi case has effectively scared away international investors at a time when foreign investment in the Saudi economy is essential to making sure that MBS wins over Saudi public opinion. It is therefore vital for the Biden administration and the international community to publicly embrace and rehabilitate MBS so as to help attract international investors to Saudi Arabia and thus strengthen domestic public support for MBS.
