MBS’ Failure

Imagine if there had been an established regional defense alliance involving Israel, the countries of the Arabian peninsula and other Arab states threatened by Iran and its proxies in the Middle East before the outbreak of the 2026 Iran war? Any attack on one member state would be construed as an attack on all member states. The Islamic Republic of Iran would not have dared attacking the Arab nations of the region if they had known that they would face massive Israeli retribution. And it was exactly MBS’ suspension of the peace process with Israel which prevented the creation of a Middle East regional defense alliance as naturally led by Israel as the regional superpower. MBS is a highly competent and effective administrator but on this, his behavior can only reasonably be described as gross dereliction of duty. Why? Because he failed his own nation and failed to do the right thing because of it being ”contentious” domestically.
