The Israeli-American Alliance is Coming to an End

US Vice President JD Vance articulated something uncomfortable about the Israeli-American alliance being one of four reasons for the GOP defeat in the 2026 midterm elections in the United States. What are the implications? No pro-Israel candidate from either party can win the 2028 presidential elections because of the newfound prominence of the Palestinian issue and the toxicity of Israel in American public opinion. While any future rational US president solely focused on national interests would no doubt maintain the US-Israel alliance which offers the US enormous advantages, the domestic electoral political flip side is too great for any presidential hopeful from either party to ignore. Thus, the results of the 2026 midterm elections signal the coming to an end of the US-Israel alliance as well. We should therefore expect Republican presidential hopefuls like Vice President JD Vance himself to increasingly distance themselves from and even publicly condemn Israel.

Israel has apparently drawn the conclusion that President Trump will be the last pro-Israel president of America and is actively diversifying its portfolio of international alliances in anticipation of US abandonment of Israel after the next US president takes office in January 2029. Yet the Israeli government does not appear overly concerned about a potential US arms embargo against Israel and the explanation in this: there is a covert military AI race underway globally and Israel has the most advanced military AI program in the world (with Russia in second place) and Israel has probably already achieved MSI (Military Super Intelligence) or at the very least is close to achieving it which is significant for other reasons as well as MSI offers a shortcut to the development of civilian ASI (Artificial Super Intelligence) itself. Israel’s superhuman performance and all-seeing capabilities in the most recent war with Hezbollah in 2024 clearly indicates indeed the possession of extremely advanced military AI. Investing 100 billion USD under ten years in developing a fully self-sufficient domestic weapons industry as PM Netanyahu has announced seems preposterous when one considers that the only countries with successful weapons industries in the future will be those with either sovereign ASI, sovereign MSI or both. The point is that MSI can develop advanced superior weapon systems cheaply without needing to invest huge resources in weapons development.

It is a shame that the US-Israel alliance will come to an end because of domestic electoral considerations but the previous French-Israeli alliance also came to an abrupt end in 1967 although out of French geopolitical calculations. President Trump’s sudden cessation of all US military aid to Israel is an apparent recognition of this domestic political reality. While President Trump is not expected to put an end to the alliance during his time in office he is clearly preparing his country for this outcome once he leaves office.
