The Case for Pax Americana

America has been much demeaned by its detractors including American ones, but the reality is that the United States is the protector of a liberal-democratic community of nations and the global guarantor of peace and security. A so-called multipolar world would be truly dystopian as Iran, Russia and China are planning world wars with tactical nuclear weapons in their respective quest for world domination. The war in Ukraine represents a critical juncture for the international community. The choice is between the peace and security of a unipolar world or the mayhem, calamity, world wars and insecurity of a multipolar one. Yet, we must also identify the soft underbelly of the American-led global liberal-democratic community. Namely, the disintegration of democracies from within. There is no strategy in place to prevent this internal erosion within democracies and there is no strategy for expanding the global democratic community. While America is imperfect and makes mistakes in its foreign policy, any alternative to Pax Americana is profoundly dystopian.
