The neutralization of the Iranian nuclear weapons program is most clearly a war of no choice because the completion of the nuclear weapons program would pose an existential threat against the State of Israel. This is clear, but is the ensuing Northern War also a war of no choice?
The answer to that question is that Israel has no choice but to destroy Hezbollah or else there will be another war with Hezbollah every time Israel (and America) neutralize the Iranian nuclear weapons program. Furthermore, why should Israel destroy Hezbollah in Lebanon but spare Hezbollah in Syria? It does not make sense. Why would Israel elect not to win a defensive war that is perfectly winnable? Why perpetuate the conflict when it can be terminated? Why chose endless war over war followed by peace?
The formula for victory may not be to the liking of the international community but it will terminate Hezbollah and the last Ba’ath regime and usher in a new era of peace. Israel will found an Aramean Christian state in parts of Lebanon, annex Median Jewish (Alawite and Druze) regions of Syria and Lebanon and let Syria annex the remainder of Lebanon, all through a peace agreement between Jerusalem, a new government in East Beirut and and a new PYD government in Damascus. Furthermore, Christian regions of Lebanon and Syria adjoining Israeli territories (aside from the Aramean state) ought to be part of Israel rather than the new Syria.
