Perceived Weakness Invites Iranian Axis to Attack

The Israeli de-escalation effort in response to the 34 Hamas rockets from Lebanon was apparently coordinated with the United States and while it could be argued that it was tactically successful, it is sending the message that Israel and the United States are weak and can be attacked and destroyed. This is not only undermining Israeli deterrence but even more so American deterrence. As far as I can see it is not in Israel’s interest to commence the Northern War prior to the Turkish elections. First, a war in Syria and Lebanon could play into the hands of Erdogan in the Turkish elections. Second, Israel cannot reasonably go public about Median Jewry being fully Jewish prior to the Turkish elections. Third, it is not suitable to go to war in the middle of a constitutional crisis when the nation is divided. However, precisely for all those reasons Iran sees an opportunity for war against Israel prior to the Turkish elections. Therefore it is understandable that Israel backs off and for now effectively tolerates rocket fire from Lebanon. However, this is very dangerous for America, considering the high risk of Iranian biological terrorist attacks against major American cities. Rather, the US should declare that the USAF will participate in the Northern War on the Israeli side as this would serve to restore and reinforce American deterrence vis-a-vis Iran.
