It is peculiar why so-called “anti-imperialists” are not concerned with Tehran’s clearly neo-imperial ambitions. Rather, “Anti-Imperialism” was a Soviet propaganda discourse closely connected to yet another Soviet propaganda discourse, namely “Anti-Zionism”. In fact, Soviet propaganda often mentioned “Anti-Imperialism and “Anti-Zionism” in one breath as if they were one. The Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the fruits of this Soviet propaganda and belief in this Soviet propaganda is the main historical reason for the ingrained and still very much intense hostility by the elite of the Islamic Republic of Iran against the State of Israel and the United States of America. It is historically deeply rooted in Soviet Anti-Semitic beliefs about “international” Jewish power.
Iran regards the US as its global main rival and Israel as its regional main rival. Iran intends to destroy Israel whether with conventional means or with nuclear weapons. Iran probably intends to attack America with weapons of mass destruction, most likely the city of New York with its large Jewish minority.
Why does Iran want nuclear weapons? This is a pertinent question indeed since there is no threat against Iranian territory. Rather, Iran wants the freedom to threaten and attack others with full nuclear impunity. Nuclear powers do not only have impunity, they cannot be dismantled. Iran wants regional supremacy in becoming a new global superpower. They want to control Middle Eastern oil in thus putting most of the world, including even China at their mercy and power of extortion. Furthermore, only energy independent countries would dare to transition to electric vehicles. With nuclear weapons would Iran’s superpower status be unthreatened and unchallenged.
Why does Iran intend to use nuclear weapons? Iran takes a no-nonsense realpolitik attitude towards the use of nuclear weapons, after all the United States used nuclear weapons against the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, something which prompted the then Japanese regime to sign the capitulation agreement with the US military. In addition to that does the Iranian regime harbor messianic hopes that a calamitous war of mass destruction will bring back the Twelver Shia messianic twin crew of Isa ibn Maryam (i.e. Jesus) and the Mahdi, identified by Twelver Shias as the Hidden Twelfth Imam in Occultation. Iran furthermore views “the Zionists” as nefarious and regards wiping them out as a good thing whether in Israel or in New York City. In fact Tehran does not have any qualms about committing a second Holocaust. This may seem peculiar to Westerners but is no more strange than American decision makers deciding to sacrifice the civilian populations of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 for the sake of American strategic victory. Similarly is Iran ready to nuke the city of Riyadh for the sake of attaining global superpower status. The peoples of Tel Aviv and Riyadh are simply expendable on the Iranian chessboard. The cynicism and abject amorality of the geostragists of the Khomeinist regime knows no bounds as it is ready to literally do anything to reach its objectives of attaining regional hegemony and global superpower status.
China would be particularly well-advised to take into consideration that Iran does not regard China as a friend but rather as useful infidels to be taken advantage of and to be later dominated through the power of oil. China is highly dependent on Middle Eastern oil and would therefore be particularly well-advised to consider its Iran policy accordingly.
