Khamenei and Raisi do not Care About Sanctions

There is a paradox in Iran in that Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader and Ebrahim Raisi, the president, simply do not care about the sanctions regime, yet the sanctions do significantly affect the regional military posture of the regime as the sanctions are very effective in curbing the regional military strength of the Khomeinist empire. The US sanctions regime against Iran constitutes quite effective containment and must therefore remain in place for the foreseeable future. The latest lie from Tehran is that the regime will restart the Vienna indirect “negotiations” a month from now at the end of November 2021. Why wait a month from now one may wonder? Of course the regime has no intention whatsoever of returning to the so-called “negotiations” since the regime has made a strategic decision to discard the JCPOA. One thing the international community still has to understand about Tehran is that it is a highly strategic decision maker and once the regime has made up its mind and the Supreme Leader has made his decision this is final. For some reason the P5+1 do not seem to grasp this very simple fact about the regime in Tehran.
