Traditionally were the Alawites or the Nusayris as they were called until the 1920s known as “Ghulat” or so-called “extremist Shias”, meaning not Shias at all who pretended to believe that Ali was a divine incarnation, hardly an Islamic belief. This was part of the Pseudo-Islamic veneer of core Median Judaism to protect Median Jews from forcible conversion to Islam by somehow, sometimes pretending to be “Muslims”, despite never having converted to Islam.
The first Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ruhollah Khomeini (1900-1989) issued a famous ruling according to which both Alevis and Alawites were to be considered to be Twelver Shia Muslims. This was a somewhat strange ruling since neither denomination of core Median Judaism practices Islam. This however became part of the basis for the alliance between Ba’athist Syria and Khomeinist Iran since Syria is ruled by an assimilated clique of ethnic Alawites with little connection to Alawite Median Judaism. Later, with the rediscovery of core Median Judaism as Judaism, did it turn out that Bashar al-Assad (b. 1965) himself and the rest of the Alawites in Syria are in fact Jewish.
What are the implications for the Syrian-Iranian alliance? The current Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei (b. 1939) knows that he cannot trust the Alawites since they nowadays identify as Jewish and he can’t even trust Assad as Assad also knows that he is Jewish. Khamenei is known to be paranoid with respect to the Americans and he is likely to be paranoid with respect to others as well, including with some justification with respect to the Alawites. The only thing holding the Syrian-Iranian alliance together nowadays is Bashar al-Assad’s personal interest in remaining in power. Khamenei’s personal view of Bashar al-Assad is probably that he is yet another treacherous, self-interested Jew. Khamenei is sticking with the alliance with Syria for now due to lack of options but the Ba’athist regime will clearly fall at the hands of joint IDF-SDF campaign in Syria after Hezbollah attacks Israel. Israel will establish an Aramean Christian state and annex Median Jewish (Alawite and Druze) regions of Syria and Lebanon and the remainder of Lebanon will be annexed by the victorious SDF which will rule Syria after Assad.
What is clear is that Khamenei presently does not have any other options in Syria than sticking with Assad, however inconvenient that is. There is no doubt that the viciously Anti-Semitic Khamenei must be hugely uncomfortable with being allied with a Jewish dictator.
