Cutting the Gordian Knot

There are currently intense trilateral US-Saudi-Israeli negotiations aimed at reaching a peace agreement between Riyadh and Jerusalem. Riyadh has two demands – down from three. The KSA demands security guarantees from the US and that Washington helps Riyadh develop a domestic nuclear program, including indigenous uranium enrichment. MBS has apparently dropped the demand for US weapons deliveries on par with NATO allies and will undoubtedly also drop the scary demand for domestic uranium enrichment if provided with an attractive regional package solution. What is that package solution? The US has to volunteer to become a founding member of the nascent MENA defense alliance just as Washington became a founding member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. There is no question that this will solve the problem and bring peace between Jerusalem and Riyadh. This is a big commitment but Iran is planning to conquer the Arab world and US membership is furthermore absolutely required to steer the ship.
